Gokulashtami or krishna Jayanthi is a festival celebrated by Hindus all over the world.
We in south India celebrate Janmashtami as a religious occasion rather a festival.Prayers offered on this day is equal to performing pooja and vradham on all ekadasi days which occur throughout the year.
generally all the sweets and savouries which are liked by KUTTY (baby) Krishna is offered to God.
The House is throughly cleaned and Kolam(Rangoli) is drawn throughout with small foot steps drawn, which paves the way for Lord Krishna to enter the house and shower his blessings.
Milk,curd,butter,ghee,fruits,Shrikand (mixture of butterand Kalkandu ,ssugar candy?)and aval are treated as most important offerings.
